Eight Below

Jerry (Paul Walker) is a sled-team guide at an Antarctic research base, and has been commissioned by a UCLA professor to take him to Mount Melbourne to attempt to collect a rare meteor. He does so against his own intuition, which tells him that it is too late in the season (January) to complete such a treacherous route.

제리(폴 워커)는 남극 연구 기지의 썰매팀 가이드인데, 희귀한 운석을 채집하기 위해 한 UCLA 교수를 멜버른 산까지 안내할 책임을 맡았다. 그런 위험한 여행을 완수하기에 너무 늦은 계절(1월)이라는 것을 그의 직관이 말해 주지만 그는 그 일을 수행하게 된다.

After several mishaps, Jerry and the professor make it back to base camp and are immediately evacuated, as all other personnel have been ordered to do throughout the area. The team of 8 husky dogs, however, is left behind, and it soon becomes apparent that no rescue will be attempted prior to the next season. The dogs must struggle for survival alone in the Antartic wilderness until Jerry eventually returns to rescue them, more than 6 months later. Not all of the dogs survive.

몇 차례 사고가 일어난 후, 제리와 교수는 베이스 캠프로 돌아와 즉시 철수하게 되며, 다른 모든 인원들도 전지역에 걸쳐 철수하도록 지시를 받는다. 하지만, 건장한 8 마리 개들은 뒤에 남게 되는데, 이내 다음 시즌전까지는 구조가 이루어지지 않는다는 사실이 명백해진다. 그 개들은 6 개월 이상 지난 후에 제리가 그들을 구조하러 돌아오기까지 남극의 광야에서 스스로 생존을 위해 싸워야만 한다. 모든 개들이 살아남지는 못하게 된다.
